First Lutheran’s Youth and Family Ministry programming focuses on faith development through participating in church ministries, service within the church and to the local and global communities, sunday school, bible study and education, leadership development, youth forums, retreats, camps and trips. Holy Communion Instruction
Is your child ready to receive Holy Communion for the first time? Or does your family need a refresher course on what the sacrament of Holy Communion is all about? Then plan to attend the 2-session class led by our pastors that will go over all the basics of what it means to be welcomed to the Lord’s table, including a behind-the-scenes tour of the sacristy!
The class will be held on Sun., Mar. 13 & 20 from 12:30-2:30 p.m. Lunch will be provided. Childcare available upon request. Register by contacting Sarah Gunderson, Director of Christian Education, at 728-3668.
Sunday School Parent Group
On Sunday mornings during the education hour, Sunday school parents gather in the Chapel to discuss various faith topics and parenting issues. A schedule is posted outside the Chapel. Parents will be meeting Sundays, Dec. 5 and 12, and then resuming the group again in January. Please come join the group! Get to know other parents in the congregation and take time to learn a bit about your faith. Contact Teresa Zupancich (340-3223) for additional information.
Love and Logic Parenting Workshop
First Lutheran Church, Board of Education and Promise Preschool, is sponsoring a four-part evening workshop (Feb. 10, 17, 24 and Mar. 3) that will be led by independent facilitators Lana Birkeland, Sharon Yung, and Karen Zimmerman. They are not only members at FLC, but they are parents and have recently attended training at the Love and Logic Institute in Denver. Parents will meet together in Christian fellowship to connect and share their experiences, see short presentations with effective real world examples, discuss and complete exercises geared to the Love and Logic style of parenting.
