FLC Kids--Sunday School
Overview
The FLC Kids program provides a safe, loving, and fun environment for all kiddos ages 0 through 5th grade. We offer a variety of opportunities for children, families, and volunteers to connect with each other through Sunday programming, periodic events, and other gatherings throughout the year.
Nursery (0 – 2 years)
We welcome children in worship! There is a family room across from the front right sanctuary doors, and a few steps to the left is a self-service nursery. Both spaces are available for any who wish to use them.
Sunday Educational Programming
Full FLC Kids educational programming is provided for ages 2 through 5th grade on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month, September through May (think “Sunday School” but more fun and no quizzes!). All classrooms use Sparkhouse-based curriculum, a division of Augsburg Fortress Publishers. Ages 2 years through 2nd grade utilize the Spark Story Bible, while upper elementary students explore the Spark Bible (NRSV).
2’s and 3’s
The 2’s and 3’s classroom includes interactive music, story, and craft / game time. Parents are encouraged to attend with their child(ren).
4’s and 5’s (including kindergarten!)
The 4’s and 5’s classroom offers age-appropriate interpretations of Bible stories for preschool, pre-kingergarten, and kindergarten kiddos. A typical lesson includes music, story, and craft / game time. Snacks are also provided, with consideration for food allergies / intolerances.
1st – 2nd Grade
Lower elementary lessons include music, story time, and a craft / game in a fun and playful environment. This is a great time for kiddos to continue exploring the concept of God and what it means to have faith.
3rd – 4th – 5th Grade
Upper elementary kiddos spend time singing, reading the story, and a craft / game. Kiddos are encouraged to ask the tough questions in this class as they continue to explore the concept of faith. First Communion is offered to third graders at the end of the school year.
Volunteer Opportunities
It takes a village to run FLC Kids! Please reach out to families@flcduluth.org if you’re interested in learning more about behind-the-scenes and/or front-of-classroom volunteer opportunities; we have both available and would love to help connect you with a role that brings you joy! We look forward to helping you find your community at FLC.
