About the Foundation

The First Lutheran Church of Duluth Foundation (Foundation) is a non-profit organization that exclusively operates to support the charitable, educational, and religious purposes of the First Lutheran Church of Duluth (FLC).

The Foundation’s mission statement is to assist with shepherding FLC into the future to serve God through education and investing gifts.

The Board of Directors ensures donors’ contributions significantly impact the FLC congregation through grant-making and educational initiatives. The Foundation’s newest initiative invites well-known speakers to the Twin Ports community to educate and foster community engagement, increase awareness of social justice issues, and inspire a call to action within our Twin Ports community. The speaker series is called FaithLoveCommunityDialogue in Action.

Guided by its mission, the Foundation has grown from $73,000 at its founding in 1986 to almost $800,000 in assets today. This is after the annual distribution of funds to the church for the past 38 years. In the past fifteen years, the Foundation has distributed over a quarter of a million dollars in grants to the church to further its mission.
