Winter Recreation Blessing and for all those who love the snow and for those skiing the Vasaloppet and the Birkie —
We give thanks for the Northland and for the gift of cold
We pray that you would send us more snow
to ski and snowshoe through the woods
And swoosh down the hills
And laugh our way down other hills on sleds
And glide across rinks out-of-doors
And open holes in thick ice to fish the lakes
Send us snow
So that we might delight in these winter joys
Send us snow
To see the world afresh and anew
Bless those who strap on this equipment
Or strap themselves to it
May the beauty of your creation inspire awe in us
May the capacity of our bodies to so move flow through us in delight
May we give thanks for the woods and the lakes
The mountains and the hills
The wildlife that share their home with us
Keep us safe and aware of those differently skilled
May our communion with nature and one another
bring us always back
