Congregational Life
FLCompanions and Nurturers
“Therefore encourage one another and build up each other, as indeed you are doing.” 1 Thessalonians 5:11
We have divided our congregation up into groups of about 10 people each based on zip code and assigned a nurturer for each group. This is one way we seek to take care of one another and live out the priesthood of all believers.
Hospitality
Every Sunday coffee, tea and refreshments are offered after service.
For as Scripture says, Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by doing so some have entertained angels unawares.” Hebrews 13:2
Welcoming & Affirming LGBTQIA+ at FLC
First Lutheran is forming a team to discuss what it means to be a welcoming and affirming community for those who are LGBTQIA+ and ways we could improve. If you would like to be part of this conversation, please contact Cindy Monroe at 218-343-6177 or pandcmonroe@gmail.com. We would love to hear your voice!
First Lutheran Flyers Softball
First Lutheran Church has a softball team called the Flyers which plays 10 games in the summer through the YMCA recreational league. Those ages 10 and up are welcome to join the team which has had a lot of fun playing outdoors and getting to know each other. Fans have been welcomed to the games which have most recently been playing at the Wheeler Fields.
Co-managers are Vic Krause (victor3rd@gmail.com) and Dory Sjoblom (dstinkrain@aol.com).

Twice a year we invite people to sign up for potluck dinners with other church members, a way to help us get to know one another – what better way than to break bread together.

Caring Ministers
The 1st Sunday of every month, we refill communion kits and pray for our caring ministers who take communion to those unable to attend worship in person – one of our stewardship ministries.
Quilters
Quilters
Every year we send a quilt to the NE Minnesota Synod Assembly auction to raise money for Synod ministries. Remaining quilts are blessed on Pentecost, and sent out through Lutheran World Federation.
