Special Worship Events
Advent
Blue Christmas – the third Wednesday in Advent
A service for those for whom the holidays are not all of good cheer, a time and space where sadness is acknowledged and made room for
Advent midweek services – the first, second, and fourth Sundays of Advent, we gather at 6:00 pm to call back the failing light and remember the Unfailing Light whose birth we await; congregational members bring the message
Advent Lessons and Carols – the third Sunday of Advent at 7:00 pm
Epiphany Sunday – marked the Sunday in January closest to the 6th
We celebrate with Three Kings’ Cakes, a procession of the magi, and the Healing of the Nations
We aspire to have worship be one of those thin places where divine and human intersect. We value good preaching, wondrous music, the liturgical seasons and high holy days, blessings for our daily lives, and worship that enlivens us. We seek to be creative and engaging of all our senses. We invite everyone to participate, if they so desire. People come as they are—some dress up, some come in jeans. We are happy that people come and hope they leave having tasted God and inspired to live as Christ’s people in the world.
Lent
Transfiguration Sunday – the last Sunday before Ash Wednesday begins our Lenten journey
Mardi Gras celebration with bacon and pancakes – Fat Sunday instead of Fat Tuesday!
Lenten Wednesdays—all five Wednesdays in Lent
We gather at 6:00 pm for Holden Evening Prayer followed by a meal.
Congregational members bring the message; there is opportunity to light candles as we gather around the cross in prayer.
Pentecost
Pentecost Day – the day we celebrate the coming of the Spirit
We have truly made Pentecost into the high, holy day it is meant to be full of fire and color and wind.
Listen to the Lord’s Prayer as we hear on Pentecost. Celebrate the beautiful sound of many languages as one!
